At Zuyd, as a lecturer you are much more than just a teacher.
You fulfil various roles in which you inspire, guide and challenge students to get the best out of themselves.
This makes your work varied, challenging and incredibly valuable.
You use various didactic working methods to transfer knowledge to your students, guide them and stimulate them to develop their own knowledge .
You create a rich learning environment in which students are challenged to be critical, curious and creative.
Whether it involves lectures, interactive sessions or individual supervision of a thesis, internship or project, you make learning inspiring and meaningful.
You help students work in teams or projects. You coach them in developing the skills needed to do so. Think about dividing tasks, addressing each other and giving feedback in the project group.
You teach students to plan and direct their own (study) careers. What do they want to achieve? To what extent do they already succeed and what else is needed? In this role, you have a lot of personal contact with students: you are their first point of contact, help them make choices and monitor their study progress.
As a lecturer-researcher, you can participate in a professorship. You then initiate and contribute to practice-oriented research that fits your field of work. You process the research results into teaching materials. You also supervise students in their graduation phase with their research.
A good learning path connects to developments in your profession and to developments within education. As a curriculum developer, you take care of the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum. You do this together with colleagues from the field, with colleagues from other study programmes and together with companies or institutions.
Good testing and assessment are important for measuring and monitoring the learning performance of students. As a test developer, you put together reliable and valid tests and assessment instruments. You are aware of the current theories regarding testing and assessment, and of the quality requirements set by the examination board of your university of applied sciences.
As a coordinator, you are an important spider in the web when it comes to the overall educational process. There are many things to coordinate within a curriculum. Internships and graduation projects for example, the minors, the blocks and modules, specific projects, the contacts with the professional field.
You can be a member of the examination board or academy council, carry out external assignments, go out and get assignments for Zuyd, publish in professional journals or on the internet.
Do you like organising? Then rotate in the organisation of a project or one of the many events at Zuyd - both internal and external.
As a teacher at Zuyd, you fulfil various roles in which you guide, inspire and support students. You have an impact on their learning process and their future.
